One of the big challenges facing those people interested in swapping out their conventional incandescent light bulbs with new, eco-friendly, low energy compact fluorescent bulbs is the daunting task of accessing recessed ceiling fixtures.
This single most useful tool for this is called a recessed light bulb changer, and is available in most stores that sell light bulbs. What they all have in common is they are mounted on a pole, sometimes with adjustable length. They operate in a variety of ways. Some have a suction cup fitting on the end, which grabs hold of the bulb, but my favourite (and the most versatile, I think) has a rubberised plastic basket, which cradles the bulb securely and allows you to reach up and screw and unscrew with relatively little effort.
